Toyota Corolla Still the Best Selling Car Across the Globe

We are still entrenched in the era of crossovers now, and despite the prevalence, carmakers have never disappointed. Several segments continue to record incredible numbers as consumers are moving more towards their favorite vehicles.
Today, there are lots of cars manufactured than any other time. In 2016 alone, more than 88.1 million cars moved from the manufacturer to the consumer or other clients.
Whereas sports utility vehicles remain some of the most preferred choices, the case is not universal.
Toyota, for instance, dominates the East African market. Majority of the sold cars in 2017 in Kenya and Uganda were the Toyota Hilux but in Tanzania, the Toyota Land Cruiser topped the sales.
The first half of 2018 sales alone in Kenya shows how Toyota is preferred by Kenyans. According to the sales stood at 6,456 in the period under review compared to 5,738 at the same time in 2017.
According to the Global Auto Database (GAD), the first half of 2018 saw Toyota Corolla – all versions – sell the most units with 610.661, a 0.4 percent decrease from last year with Ford F-Series coming in second with 536.451 sales, a 3.2 percent increase from 2017’s.
Volkswagen sales increased 0.8 percent positioning it at the third position with 441.9483 units. Honda Civic with 424.688 units (+7.2 percent), Toyota RAV4 with 408.703 units (+7.5 percent), and Volkswagen Tiguan with 405.087 units (+16.3 percent) came in at the fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Another model of Volkswagen, Polo, sold 375.795 units (+8.3 percent) came in at the seventh position followed by Honda CR-V with 337.802 units (-4.0 percent), and Toyota Camry with 337.107 units (+6.3 percent). In the tenth position was the Chevrolet Silverado with 323.746 units (+8.9 percent).
There are also emerging models such as the Chevrolet Equinox, the Bajoun 510, the Jeep Compass, and the Jeep Wrangler, which are selling at significant rates. The four appeared in GAD’s list at positions 27, 30, 34, and 47 respectively.
The first half of 2018 gives a bearing on which vehicles will dominate the market when the year ends. In 2017, the best-selling cars by country as ranked by Forbes were as follows:
