Ailing Uchumi Supermarket Kicks Off The Week as Top Gainer At NSE

The ailing retailer, Uchumi Supermarket kicked off the week as the top gainer of the day at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) with 8.33 percent at the price of 0.65 shillings per share.

Home Afrika and Sameer Africa were second and third gainers of the day with 7.14 and 6.67 percent at the price of 0.75 and 2.40 shillings per share respectively.

Kenya Power and Lighting and WPP ScanGroup gained 6.02 and 5.26 percent at the price of 4.40 and 14.00 shillings per share respectively.

The top loser of the day was Sanlam Kenya with 7.37 percent at the price of 22.00 shillings per share followed by Longhorn Kenya with a loss of 7.22 percent at the price of 4.50 shillings per share.

Mumias Sugar Company, Nairobi Securities Exchange and British American Tobacco lost 6.67, 4.10 and 3.33 percent at the price of 0.70, 14.05 and 580.00 shillings per share respectively.

Safaricom PLC started off the week as the top mover of the day after selling 9.43 million shares followed by Kenya Power and Lighting Company who sold 2.17 million shares.

Kenya Electricity Generating Company, Kenya Commercial Bank and NIC Bank sold 2.06, 1.28 and 1.20 million shares respectively.
