Kenya Once Again Ranked as the Top Tourist Destination in Africa

Kenya has once again on the global map after being ranked as the top tourist destination in 2018 during the Annual World Travel Awards (WHA).

During the ceremony, Kenya scooped a number of awards with Diani been named as Africa’s leading beach destination 2018 and Kenya Airways emerging as the continent’s leading business and economy airline.

Fastjet Airline, on the other hand, was voted as the best low-cost airline in Africa.

Other notable winners from Kenya included the national carrier, Satguru Travel & Tourism (Africa leading business travel agency, Ol Pajeta Conservancy (Africa leading conservation company) and the Aberdare County Club as leading Green Hotel.

Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club (Africa leading hotel), Palacina The Residence & Suites (Leading Hotel residence), Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi (leading Luxury hotel), the Maasai Mara National Park (leading national park), Olare Mara Kempinski (leading luxury tented camp).

Pollmans Tours and Safaris got the top award of Africa’s leading tour operator while Bonfire Adventure maintained its grip on the award list after being named Africa’s leading travel agency.

Nairobi’s five-star hotel The Stanley was voted as Kenya’s leading hotel.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Betty Radier noted that the awards were a confirmation of Kenya’s unrivalled top position as a beach and safari destination.

“We are honored as a destination to receive these awards. The awards truly attest to the fact that Kenya offers an unrivalled beach and safari product experience that is second to none in Africa,” Dr. Radier said.

She said that these awards are proof that Kenya’s travel and hospitality industry is on the right track.

The awards are recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence and are this year marking the 25th year since inception.

In 2017, Kenya was named the World’s Leading Safari Destination.
