Kenya’s Selfish Billionaires Busy Dying of Cancer But Busy Building Hotels and Malls

Stats show that thousands of Kenyans, more than 30,000, are dying annually due to cancer-related complications. Cancer has become a major killer of Kenyans yet it is the less talked about or considered during major budgetary allocations.

For many years, Kenya’s political class has avoided talking about or thinking on ways through which Kenyans can be helped and save thousands of lives that are perishing through the pangs of cancer.

The irony is, the same politicians and billionaires (the majority of which have looted from us) are suffering and dying from the same illness. One Member of Parliament battling cancer revealed that a total of 63 legislators are battling the same with almost all of them seeking treatment in India.

There is no doubt that cancer treatment costs a fortune especially when it is in its advanced stage. Most Kenyans have had to seek treatment from India but those who cannot afford have been left to suffer and die with no one to help them out.

The fact is that both the political leaders and the common Kenyans are dying of cancer. It is ironic that those with the instruments of power and who can pass laws and policies to have affordable cancer treatment in the country are dying and those remaining still mute over the same.

The billionaires are busy constructing malls and hotels and none of them thinks of setting up a research facility or a cancer center that will be beneficial for everyone and give them income in return. Politicians are busy looting from us, and instead of investing back into the economy, they are hiding the cash in foreign accounts, buying choppers and shopping in such places as Dubai.

Kenyans took to the social media and wondered on Thursday after it emerged that former President Mwai Kibaki was planning to set up a multi-billion hotel near Menengai Crater in Nakuru. It is true that the cash belongs to the old man but according to Kenyans, he should have thought of something different, something like a cancer center.
