What is your Achilles Heel?

There is an old Greek legend that speaks of a Warrior called Achilles who was dipped into River Styx by his Mother Thetis to make him invulnerable for war. Unfortunately, his heel wasn’t covered by the water and was later killed by an arrow wound on his heel.
We all have an Achilles Heel, literally, we do… it’s a large tendon that connects our calf to our heel and it’s what helps us stand, walk, run or jump.
Like they say, to err is human. We are not perfect, and more so, we all have that vulnerable point in our lives that we hide, ignore or cover up. But somehow, it never goes away. For as long as you try to hide it, eventually, it will crop up before you even know it.
It could be a dark secret, pride, anger, lack of confidence, perfectionism, impatience, poor communication – aka foot in the mouth syndrome – mindset, an addiction or fear of failure to name a few.
All these things deter us from being who we are supposed to be. They are the reasons our dreams die. We end up failing to pursue what matters and what would have changed our lives the most. As such, we can all agree that our leap in life only goes as far as we willing to deal with our ‘Achilles Heel’.
Like Achilles himself, we are given the opportunity to choose the course of our life. Should we dwell in the typical life filled with ordinary daily pursuits, or should we choose one filled with glory and valor on life’s battlefield?
How far we can go depends on our personal resolve to greatness. Wallowing in self-pity and blindly walking through life without a sense of direction or purpose amounts to our fall. It was once said that “you are the captain of your ship. Don’t let anyone take the wheel.” This much is true, and if you should ever stumble downhill, you have yourself to blame.
Difficulties creep up. They make it hard for you to progress, but you know, if the mountain was smooth, you couldn’t climb it. It is what makes us have a feeling of accomplishment. It also allows us to reclaim what is already ours. But where you have faltered and you need a bit of a push, Lumina Spark is always here to help you grow.
