NSE In Focus: Uchumi Supermarket Emerges as Top Gainer

The top gainer of the day at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) was Uchumi Supermarket with 9.09 percent at the price of 0.60 shillings per share followed by Sanlam Kenya with 8.70 percent at the price of 25.00 shillings per share.

Mumias Sugar Company, East African Cables and Sasini Tea and Coffee gained 7.14, 6.12 and 4.99 percent at the price of 0.75, 2.60 and 20.00 shillings per share respectively.

The East African Portland Cement was the top loser of the day with 9.95 percent at the price of 17.20 shillings per share followed by Unga Group with a loss of 8.86 percent at the price of 36.00 shillings per share.

Umeme, Standard Chartered Bank and Kapchorua Tea Kenya lost 6.82, 5.47 and 5.41 percent at the price of 8.20, 190.00 and 70.00 shillings per share respectively.

The top mover of the day was Safaricom Plc who sold 8.63 million shares followed by KenolKobil who sold 1.43 million shares.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company and CIC Insurance Group 897,900 and 272,000 shares respectively while NIC Bank sold 253,200 shares.
