Six Confirmed Dead in Chepsir Kericho-Nakuru Highway

Six people have been confirmed dead in a tragic road accident at Chepsir along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway.

The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck carrying gas cylinders.

Kericho Base Commander Michael Kahare has confirmed the deaths in the preliminary report.

The head on collision occurred at around 6:30pm after a trailer which was traveling from Kisumu headed towards Nakuru swerved from its lane hitting the matatu which was heading in the the opposite direction.

James Mugera, the Kericho County Police Commander said five passengers in the matatu died on the spot while one other died on the way to Kericho District hospital.

Nine other passengers suffered serious injuries and are being treated at the Kericho District hospital.
