Did You Know: Police in Nigeria Arrested a Goat on Suspicion of Robbery With Violence?

Did you know that in 2009, police officers in Nigeria “arrested” and detained a goat on suspicion of taking part in an armed robbery with violence?

The goat was handed over to the police by a vigilante group who said that a person who had stolen a car used witchcraft to transform into a goat when people wanted to arrest him.

The police spokesperson in Kwara State then said that “the armed robbery suspect” would remain in police custody until investigations were over.

The police are said to have even paraded the “suspect” before the media and asked the owner of the alleged stolen vehicle to appear before them and write a statement.

Police Use Blood from a Mosquito to Arrest a Car Thief

In December 2008, police in Finland arrested a car thief after carrying out a DNA test on a mosquito that was found in the car.

The car was stolen in Lapua, 200 miles north of Helsinki in June. As investigators inspected the car after it was found, they discovered a mosquito which was taken to the laboratory for DNA tests.

Since then, the police have been keeping an eye on mosquitoes at scenes of crimes just in case there is one witty ‘witness’ to provide them with the ‘way forward.’
