Tomatoes Retailing Averagely at Ksh. 103 Per Kg Across the Country

A kilogram of tomatoes is retailing at an average market price of 103 shillings across the country with Kisumu recording the highest market price of 132 shillings.

A 64-kilogram bag of tomatoes in Nairobi is being sold at a market price of 7,200 shillings, meaning that for every kilogram, buyers are paying approximately 112 shillings which above the average price countrywide.

Nakuru has the lowest market price for tomatoes where a 64 Kg bag of tomatoes are being sold at 5,000 shillings, meaning that a kilogram of tomatoes is going for only 78 shillings.

In Eldoret, a 64 Kg bag of tomatoes is going for 5,500 shillings while in Mombasa, it is going for 7,000 shillings.

Dry onions, on the other hand, are being sold at an average market price of 866 shillings per 13 Kgs across the country, with Eldoret having the highest price of 1,170 shillings.

Dry onions are cheapest in Mombasa markets, with a kilogram going for only 50 shillings.

In Nairobi, a 13 Kg bag of dry onions is being sold at 850 shillings, Kisumu at 910 shillings and Nakuru at 750 shillings.

Meanwhile, a kilogram of spring onions is being sold at an average price of 23 shillings compared to an average price of 66 shillings per kilogram for dry onions.

Mombasa has the highest market price for spring onions, where a 142 Kg bag is going for 4,700 shillings, meaning that a kilogram is going for 33 shillings.

The same quantity of spring onions is being sold at 3,200 shillings in Nairobi, 4,500 shillings in Nakuru, 2,500 shillings in Kisumu and 1,800 shillings in Eldoret.
