Apple Cider Vinegar: The Solution to Your Dry Itchy Scalp

Have you ever heard people say that a woman’s beauty is in her hair? Even the good book says that, “but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory. For her hair is given her for her covering.” So, hair is woman’s crown and glory.

But hair, just like any other part of the body, has its problems, and should be well taken care of. It’s not enough to just have hair, unhealthy hair at that (*wink).

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had the driest and itchiest of scalps. That means I would have several trips to the salon since I could barely maintain plaited hair for more than a week. And like most people, I just let it be. Of course, this was after trying out different hair foods, buying commercial shampoos which seemed to only further dry my hair, maintaining one hair dresser, and treating my hair. Nothing seemed to work.

Finally, I found a cheaper and easier way to control the itchiness and dandruff! Vinegar, apart from being one of your kitchen ingredients, can be used to help with scalp itchiness and controlling dandruff, and even to give a shine to your hair.

Apple cider vinegar, specifically, has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties that help reduce itching caused by dry skin.

And its very easy to use. You only need to shampoo your hair as usual then use warm or cool final rinsing water with vinegar.

You can make a concentrated vinegar hair rinse or one that is less concentrated. It doesn’t matter. But I go for the latter.

How to use it? Mix one-part apple cider vinegar to four parts water, then rinse your hair (after washing with shampoo) as you massage your scalp gently using your fingers. And just like that, start your journey to feeling good about your hair.

Do not worry about the smell as it will go away when your hair is finally dry. Now, ladies, won’t you try it and see?
