A Kenyan woman identified as Annsam was found dead in her house in Mehrauli, South New Delhi, India, on the night of June 17, 2019.

Police reports show that 45-year-old Annsam, whose body was found in a pool of blood, had been living in a flat with fellow Kenyans for 10 months since she moved to New Delhi.

South District Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vijay Kumar told the Indian Express that they had received a call from a Kenyan woman claiming her sister had been killed.

“We rushed to the scene and took the woman to hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. She had a knife stab wound on the left side of her chest,” said Kumar.

Annsam was reportedly living with six or seven other women from Kenya, one of whom she had a fight with over a bottle of beer.

Detectives are holding the woman who they believe might have been involved in the fight with Annsam because she had bruises, and whose boyfriend, who was present during the fight, confirmed to the police that the two women actually had a fight over liquor. The police are investigating his role in the crime.

“We are questioning neighbours, friends, and other Kenyan women who lived in the building. We are yet to identify Annsam’s relatives,” the police said Wednesday, June 19.

The police officers also said that the killers took the deceased’s passport, visa, and mobile phone.
