13 Dead in Tragic Kisumu- Kericho Highway Night Road Accident in Awasi

13 people have died after a tragic road accident along the Kisumu Kericho highway in Awasi, Kisumu County at around 1:30 am on Friday, 4^th October 2019.

The tragic Awasi night accident involved an Eldoret Express passenger bus registration number KCF 728 G and a truck whose registration number is KBS744T; Trailer ZE 0256 causing deaths and serious injuries to the victims.

The Eldoret Express involved in the Awasi accident had 51 passengers on board and was on its way to Nairobi, 42 kilometres from Kisumu towards Kericho, while the trailer was headed in the opposite direction to Kisumu.

According to security officers and witnesses who got to the Awasi scene of the accident first, the Eldoret Express driver lost control of the Passenger bus and drove onto the opposite lane leading to a head-on collision with the truck.

Upon the head-on collision, 11 passengers died on the spot together with the two respective drivers with many others sustaining serious injuries.

The patients injured in the Awasi road accident were rushed to the Jaramogi hospital while others to Ahero hospital where they are already going through urgent treatment.

The bodies at the Awasi night accident have already been retrieved and are on the process of being transferred to Ahero sub-County hospital. May their souls rest in peace
