KPLC has issued a warning to unlicensed telecommunication operators who are illegally stringing their fibre optic cables onto their (Kenya Power) distribution poles.

According to the public notice issued by Kenya Power, unlicensed communication networks connected to electricity distribution poles without Kenya Power’s knowledge have been on the rise.

“The illegal stringing and installations have in some instances caused accidents along roads and in private homes, endangered public safety and life” read part of the public notice by Kenya Power.

The unlicensed communication network providers have been given a leeway of not more than 14 days to remove their fibre optics or face legal action.
