Mutindwa Junction and Jogoo Road to be Closed on Sunday, 6th October

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a notice to inform members of the public that traffic between Mutindwa Junction and Jogoo Road will be affected on Sunday, 6th October starting 6 am to 6 pm.

Jogoo road, already listed as the busiest road in the city already experiences the worst traffic congestion said to be the worst in the whole of the East African region. This has however been attributed to the fact that most of Nairobi residents hail from the Eastlands area, and its high population leads to traffic jam, the heaviest being during peak hours.

KURA will be foreseeing the installation of a footbridge along Outering Road near Tena estate that connects to Jogoo road and has warned that both sides traffic will be affected.

This, however, does not mean that the route will be totally impassable as Jogoo Road is known to be one of the city’s most used roads.

It would only mean that since the pedestrian overpass covers both sides of the road, and given the many vehicles that use the route, traffic will be inevitable and much slower as the installation takes place.

Motorists using Jogoo Road have been advised to take caution and be careful as they approach the installation site.

KURA will put up signs to help motorists and would, therefore, wish to advise motorists to follow the signs that will be provided as stated in their notice.

“Motorists are advised to be cautious as they approach Mutindwa Junction on Saturday, 5th October, from 6 am to 6 pm and follow all the signs provided,” read part of the notice.

There will be Traffic Marshalls tasked with giving directions and guidance to motorists and providing alternative routes for them to use.

“We apologise for the inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavor to provide efficient urban road network,” reads the KURA notice.
