There will be no holiday on Monday and Kenyans should treat it as any other working day.

For the better part of Saturday, a letter that was purported to be coming from the office of Interior informed Kenyans of a holiday on Monday.

The letter, which now has been verified as being fake indicated that Monday had been set aside to celebrate Eliud Kipchoge who became the first man to run a marathon under the traditional two hours.

Here is the FAKE letter:

Kenyans online had started calling on government of Kenya to set aside what they called “Eliud Kipchoge Day” and the seemingly genuine letter had already sent some in a celebratory mood.

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior Dr. Fred Matiang’i has called on Kenyans to ignore the letter terming it fake.
