Goons In Police Uniforms Brutalizing Unarmed Kenyans

BY Juma · November 12, 2019 06:11 am

The Kenyan police force seems to have been infiltrated with goons taking advantage of the uniform and gun to be “above the law.”

On several occasions, police officers have come under fire for using excessive force on unarmed Kenyans, especially students.

In recent months, officers have been associated with numerous robbery with violence incidences, hitmen for hire as well as kidnappers.

Kenyans are now torn between the “real” criminals and the police officers who are supposed to protect them. Efforts to create a good rapport between the police force and the civilians are often made one step forward and six steps backward.

On Monday, the police were dispatched to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology to quell demonstrations among students in Juja.

The students were protesting inadequate security in the region that has led to several of their colleagues being killed with others wounded by armed criminals.

Instead of breaking up the demonstrations, the boys in blue went on a “hunting” spree, subjecting hundreds of students to beatings and torture to the full glare of cameras.

One video showed three police officers beating and kicking in the head an unarmed student who was on the ground. From the video, it was clear that the officers wanted the student dead.

Police caught on video clobbering an unarmed student.

In another video, the “gallant” policemen are seen breaking into hostels, throwing teargas in rooms with an intention to smoke the students out.

The merciless clobbering of students continued hours after the demonstrations had died prompting the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’i to order disciplinary measures against the officers “within 24 hours.”

Statement from the police

Kenyan police officers seem to be hellbent in forcing Kenyans to hate them. Memories of a six-month-old Baby Pendo being clobbered to death by police officers during the past election skirmishes are still fresh in our minds.

Something needs to be done.
