KCPE Results To Be Released In A Week’s Time

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination marking is expected to be concluded this Friday, 15th November, and results released next week.

Examiners reportedly began marking the KCPE multiple choice scripts through the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) immediately after the first paper was concluded on Tuesday, 29th October.

As of now, reports from Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) indicate that all multiple choice scripts have been marked and that examiners are working overtime to ensure that the ongoing marking of English composition and Kiswahili Insha scripts ends by 15th November.

According to sources from KNEC, they have envisioned that marking of essays will take another three to four days of working overtime, so that candidates, and Kenyans expect results any time from Wednesday, 20th November.

Earlier, KNEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mercy Karogo had said in a brief that coordinating and processing of KCPE will be done between November 1st and 20th.

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof. George Magoha, said that the examination council will release the results immediately after they are processed, as there would be no point of holding on to the results when everything is completed.

Prof. Magoha had announced, upon completion of KCPE exams, that all candidates would receive their rightful results before Christmas to give parents enough time to prepare for their children’s transition to secondary schools.

He also noted that there was no exam leakage during the KCPE period, as the less than ten attempted fraud cases were contained before the plans were executed, thanks to cooperation between his ministry and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Magoha commended the TSC for taking swift action against exam centers that were planning on cheating and promised that those involved in three KCPE centers will face the full force of the law.

KNEC had put in place 6,440 examiners to mark KCPE exams through the OMR machine which hastens the processing of marked data from candidates’ answer sheets using specialized scanning. 26,597 more examiners are already marking KCSE scripts.
