Liquid Telecom Carries The Day As The Most Innovative In Internet Of Things

If you are looking for the most innovative telecom in the world of using the Internet of Things (IoT), then Liquid Telecom is the company you should look for according to World Communication Award.
During the week, Liquid Telecom was awarded the “Most Innovative IoT solution for implementing the usage of internet of things in Kenya’s Western region and Nyanza to monitor and protect freshwater fish population.
Liquid Telecom has connected 10 pilot-phase sensors that monitor water temperature and pH value in ponds to protect the growth of fish. The sensors are used to send information and feeding instructions to farmers through an app installed either on Android phones or iOS.
The deployment of IoT in the management of fish by Telecom Kenya is the first in Africa and the company hopes to spread the wings of the same to other fish-rearing regions in the country.
“Deploying an innovative IoT solution across Liquid Telecom’s high-speed network we are helping to transform communities across East Africa whilst also addressing food security which is central to Kenyan government’s big four agenda,” said Adil Youssefi, Liquid Telecom’s East Africa Region Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
According to Mr. Youssefi, Liquid Telecom is always delighted to work with fish farmers in Kenya and that being recognized on the global stage was not something to take lightly.

Nic Rudnick, Group CEO of Liquid Telecom, said “We are delighted to have picked up three awards in one night. Being recognized for ‘Best African Wholesale Carrier’ for eight consecutive years is unprecedented in the industry. Further recognition for best ‘Regional Wholesale Carrier’ and ‘Most Innovative IoT Solution’ reflects the continuing investment which we have been making in our network and the new innovations and solutions which we have been developing to enhance the value that we deliver to our customers”.
The use of IoT in fish farming has reduced fish deaths by 30 to 40 percent annually, in the process helping in the boosting of fish production and uplift the livelihoods of people working in the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Kenya.
