Apps! The world seems to be running on apps. There are dating apps, banking apps, medical apps, travel apps, music apps, and many more others.

The majority of the most downloaded apps are social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and some travel apps such as Uber.

According to App Annie, in the last 10 years, all the four most downloaded apps are owned by Facebook. They include Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

Between 2010 and 2019, Facebook’s main app topped the list of the most downloaded apps followed by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

The fact that Facebook controls the world in the number of apps downloaded in years, shows just how much power Facebook owners have. All the four apps owned by Facebook have at least one billion users each.

Mark Zuckerberg bought Instagram at 1 billion US dollars in 2012 and WhatsApp at 19 billion US dollars in 2014 with both platforms spreading their roots all over the world.
