The Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha is set to today, 18th December 2019; release the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results, three days earlier than was done last year.

The 2019 KCSE examination results were on Monday, 16th December 2019, approved by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) board before they could be submitted to President Uhuru.

As is the norm, the results will be made public only after they are submitted to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A total of 699,745 candidates sat the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Education stakeholders have already received invites to the Knec Headquarters on Dennis Pritt road where they are required to be seated by 9 am.

The marking of KCSE 2019 did not happen without interruptions as at some point those mandated to carry out the exercise downed their tools in demand for improved remuneration.

The marking was however successfully completed on Thursday, 12th December 2019, from when Knec officials began the process of analyzing the results.

The 2019 KCSE examinations took place between 4th November and 27th November 2019 while the marking process began on 28th November in 20 KCSE marking centers in Nairobi where the services of 26,597 teachers were sought.

The KCSE 2019 reported drop malpractice where 90 mobile phones were confiscated from candidates during exams and 21 cases reported in a number of exam centers.

The KCSE 2019 exams were done in 10,287 centers across the country as 300 schools stood under keen watch following reports of planned cheating as reported by Prof Magoha.

In 2018, 90,000 candidates scored C+ and above allowing them to join universities as the top KCSE 2018 candidate who came from Pangani Girls scored 87.644 points.

It remains to be seen whether the KCSE 2019 candidates will outdoor their counterparts in 2018 and whether girls will maintain their competitiveness with the boys.

Academic Giants that have shone in previous years in the KCSE making them a desire for most KCPE candidates will also be keenly watched as parents seek to see how the schools their children have been invited to join perform.
