The DPL Festive Limited responsible for the baking of the famous Festive bread amongst many households in Kenya has responded to claims of adding harmful chemicals to their festive bread to ensure it lasts longer.

DPL Festive limited has rubbished the claims published online claiming that the company adds formalin to their Festive bread to ensure it does not stale.

Formalin is a chemical regularly used in morgues for the preservation of bodies as it stabilizes proteins and prevents them from rotting away by preventing both autolysis and putrefaction.

The company was accused in online platforms of adding formalin, used to preserve dead bodies, into their Festive bread to ensure the bread looked fresh for over a month.

“We would like to state that first, DPL festive Ltd sources the finest ingredients for baking our bread that is vetted and approved by KEBS,” DPL Festive argued in a statement sent to newsrooms.

DPL also added that their products suite the trending health needs of their customers where they observe low sugar and low salt in their bread.

“Under the same process, we issue a 7-day consumption of our bread unless frozen by the user to enable it to be consumed past the recommended 7-day period,” DPL Festive said in the statement.

DPL also noted that all ingredients used in baking the Festive bread are according to the law and are all published on each packed bread.

DPL Festive encouraged Kenyans to visit their factory saying that their doors were always open to authorities and had been visited previously on frequent times to monitor the company’s baking standards.

“We would like to assure members of the public and our customers that DPL Festive LTD will pursue the false and defamatory facts stated by the blogger and his sources as they are intended to cause fear,” DPL Festive notes.

DPL Festive has been baking the Festive Bread for over 20 years now and assures Kenyans that it remains dedicated to quality as a homegrown Kenyan company.
