Man Commits Suicide After Losing KSH 15 Million In A Nairobi Casino

The body of a 40-year-old is laying at the Nairobi City Mortuary after he jumped off from a fifth-floor building in Kilimani area Nairobi after losing a 15 million shillings bet.

The 40-year-old man who committed suicide for losing 15 million shillings in a bet in a casino in Nairobi’s Two Rivers mall has been identified as Richard Wangai.

Richard Wangai, the man who committed suicide for losing a 15 million shilling bet, is reported to have jumped off the fifth floor of Adlife Plaza near Yaya Centre after visiting a casino.

Richard Wangai, according to police officers, entered the Adlife Plaza near Yaya Centre at 4 pm and jumped off at 5 pm instantly falling to his death.

Richard Wangai was also found to have been in possession of some tablets that were found in his pockets according to police officers.

The Kilimani area where the body of Richard Wangai fell after jumping off a fifth-floor building in Adlife, Yaya Centre after he lost 15 million shillings, has been sealed off by officers who are investigating the matter.

Gambler’s Deaths?

The suicide of Richard Wangai comes in the fresh memory of a young man who committed suicide by hanging himself behind his mother’s house after he lost a bet.

The young man, then a student at the Kenyatta University committed suicide days after losing money in a bet he’d placed in the UEFA quarterfinal game.

Gambling has become rampant in Kenya and a lead cause of depression and suicide cases amongst men.

A hobby that was once synonymous with the wealthy and elites has gained momentum in Africa especially Kenya and is consuming both the rich and the poor.

Gambling or betting is an addictive habit that makes it difficult for one to save and can easily financially destroy one while it has been found responsible for depression and suicide, it is also to blame for a number of broken homes.
