Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak in Italy, some Serie A matches will be played without fans including the eagerly awaited Juventus vs Inter Milan’s clash.

Serie leaders Juventus will be playing at home against their fierce rivals Inter Milan on Sunday, March 1, 2020, but fans will be forced to watch the game on their screens at home as the game will be played behind closed doors.

The match between Juventus and Inter Milan will not be just a match as the two Italian giants are eyeing the Serie A title, but their fans will not be physically available to witness the results of the game this weekend.

The decision which is, of course, a disappointment to many, is an effort to control the spread of Coronavirus which has hit Italy and since the virus is very contagious, a larger crowd would be conducive for it to spread.

Italy has so far confirmed 400 cases of Coronavirus with 14 deaths and currently, 11 towns are under quarantine to control the spread of the virus.

The outbreak of the virus has forced Serie A to postpone most of its matches to later dates and now, the new tactic is to allow teams to play behind closed doors without a single fan in attendance.

The Juventus Vs Inter Milan clash is among the five matches that will be played behind closed doors to prevent coronavirus spread this weekend.

Other matches to be played without fans are Udinese vs Fiorentina, AC Milan vs Genoa, Parma vs SPAL and Sassuolo vs Brescia.

Fans and team managers expressed their disappointment with the decision saying that matches without crowds are never lively. Players never play with the same morale as compared to when the crowds are available.

“Soccer needs the crowd, to hear the atmosphere around it. That’s the best thing about the game, the atmosphere around the soccer being played.”

“These decisions have been taken with public health in mind but I hope that everything returns to normal as soon as possible,” Complained Inter Milan Manager Antonio Conte.
