Kenya will receive 328 million shillings (3 million Euros) from Germany which will be used to fight the locust invasion in the country.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier announced that his government will join forces with African countries to combat the locust menace that is posing a significant threat to food security in the region.

The German president said his country will donate 3 million Euros to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) where Kenya will be a beneficiary of the grants.

FAO had earlier appealed to well-wishers and other nations to urgently help in containing the locust crisis, saying it would wreak havoc if not dealt with in due time.

The German Head of State made this announcement during his tour to the East African country where he met with President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Statehouse.

With his contributions, the German president joins other donors who have taken heed to FAO’s appeal to help fight Africa’s locust crisis.

Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation, are among those who contributed funds to help fight the locusts’ invasion in Africa. The foundation gave 10 million dollars to FAO to support its work with governments in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia in fighting the locusts.

The insects which raided the East African Countries in December last year have already caused significant damages to the crops in the region.

In Kenya, a swarm of locusts was last seen devouring food crops in Bungoma County. In these regions, the insects are considered delicious sources of protein but unluckily, the Government warned the locals against consuming them.

Neighboring countries like Djibouti, Eritrea, Tanzania, and Uganda have also witnessed a swarm of locusts in their fields.

FAO’s FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu warned that only weeks are remaining for the countries to fight the locusts or else they could provoke a significant humanitarian crisis.

Experts say that when locusts land on a square kilometer piece of land, they can destroy food crops that can feed more than 30,000 people at a go.

Partying short, What Kikuyu elders think about the locusts.

Meanwhile, Kikuyu elders have placed all the blame on homosexuality saying the ungodly practice has prompted God to send locusts to Africa as a form of punishment.

The Kikuyu elders who rallied behind their leader Anglican Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit said same-sex relationships have caused a myriad of disasters that Africa is currently facing, including the locust invasion.

“We are killing our communities by allowing members of the same-sex to be in relationships, we should live as God intended, and this is likely one of the reasons why locusts have invaded Kenya,” one of the elders opined.

Anglican Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit said he will boycott a Lambeth Conference in the UK on accounts that it supports homosexual practices.
