The Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been ejected from the main dias at President Daniel Arap Moi’s funeral at Kabarak by security officers.

The Nairobi Governor who is not a guest to the controversy must have thought he had earned the position after spending millions of shillings to sponsor newspapers for mourners at President Moi’s memorial.

Sonko, who was dressed in a black suit and gold-colored spectacles, was barred by security officers from entering to the dias where other leaders were seated and was later offered a place to sit after the protocol was observed.

It remains unclear why the security officers prevented the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from sitting at the dais.

Sonko stood stranded for several minutes until an unidentified man who wore a blue tag approached him and seemed to be explaining why he would not be allowed in despite having been allowed yesterday at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Governor Sonko Splashed Millions To Buy Moi Mourners Standard Newspapers

The memorial, which took place at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, saw the County Government, through Governor Mike Sonko, spend millions to sponsor a special edition of the Standard newspaper.

The special edition of the Standard Newspaper was issued free of charge to all mourners who attended the memorial service of former President Daniel Arap Moi.

Each seat at the 30,000 capacity stadium had a newspaper courtesy of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko which has left him shocked after he was ejected from the main dias causing him humiliation.

“The Nairobi City County Government gives a free copy of the Standard Newspaper in honor of Mzee Moi at his memorial,” the Standard Media Group had shared on their twitter handle.

Sonko, who had earlier eulogized President Daniel Moi as a leader who had ensured the inclusivity of all communities, stayed calm in what was viewed as a way to humiliate him.

“Every time, Mzee Moi spoke about unity, and he always did this in every corner of this country, actually we have done a lot on matters distributing free milk to schools in Nairobi,” Sonko had earlier stated.
