Kenyans are not pleased with how their Government is handling things as it allowed 239 Chinese into the country amid Coronavirus fears.

The 239 passengers who arrived on a plane from China, were cleared into the country with one of them suspected to have the deadly Coronavirus’(still not proven).

The Chinese nationals were then told to self-quarantine themselves after the Government cleared them in. It is quite funny to allow people who have come into the country for various reasons and we expect them to isolate themselves.

The Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna, however, assured Kenyans of safety as all precautionary measures have been put in place to handle the spread of the virus.

“Those people coming from China have been screened. Nobody gets on a plane without screening to ensure they are not at risk,” Oguna said.

Oguna said that everyone who enters the country from China undergoes mandatory screening at the airport to ensure the safety of those who have not been infected by the virus.

“This is to ensure that everybody is safe. Those who leave the airport are expected to self-quarantine. These are precautionary measures to ensure that nobody is put at risk of infection,” he added.

In the meantime, as the Chinese nationals are jetting into the country in numbers, 91 Kenyan students are still stuck in Wuhan waiting for the Kenyan Government to allow them back.

The Government, however, is not buying the idea, as it says the Kenyan students are better off in China than coming back to their country.

The government has even resorted to sending them 1.3 million shillings for their daily upkeep despite their relatives pleading for them to be evacuated from Wuhan, China.

Kenyans are very infuriated about this situation with some saying the government is proving to be biased. What did China give the Kenya Government? Is it because we owe them lots of money and we fear that they might demand it back if we do not treat them well?

Elsewhere, the coronavirus continues to claim the lives of people. The death toll has now reached 2770 with over 81,291 people confirmed to have contracted the virus.
