CS Kagwe: More Restrictions Announced In Fight Against Coronavirus

The government has given an update on the coronavirus outbreak in Kenya with CS Kagwe noting that Kenya should prepare for the worst in the next two weeks.

CS Kagwe has revealed that 44 people have been released after spending 14 days in quarantine and testing negative but four people have been taken in with one testing negative but results for three others yet to be released.

“The next two weeks are extremely critical for this country as we have noted that is when the infections dramatically increase after observing cases in other countries,” CS Kagwe has said.

“This is the moment in our country’s history when we ought to embrace the Harambee spirit as our actions in the next one week will determine whether we will blow to a full-blown crisis,” CS Kagwe has insisted.

More Restrictions As Kenya Braces For The Worst In Coronavirus Threat

“All supermarkets are expected to control the number of people in the premise at any given point and ensure the number of people conforms to the social distancing rule” CS Kagwe has noted saying the retailers will be allowed to operate 24 hours.

CS Kagwehas noted that the government is ready and willing to provide night security for supermarkets to operate to ensure there is sufficient time for shoppers.

“Shopping will be restricted to one person and children are restricted from shopping areas that are malls, supermarkets, and open-air markets,” CS Kagwe has announced saying children should remain indoors.

Gikomba will tomorrow be out of bounds as the government will be fumigating the open-air market as Kenyans embark on prayers for the nation according to the CS Health.

“We encourage that as much as possible, Kenyans stay at home and avoid public transport unless totally essential and if so, then a 14-seater matatu will carry 8 people,” CS Kagwe has announced.

“Any 30-seater and above matatus and the Standard Gauge Railway are expected to carry a maximum of 60 percent of passengers with passengers expected not to sit close to each other,” the CS Health has added.

CS Kagwe has also noted that a man has been arrested in Kilifi for failing to self-quarantine and has reiterated that it is not an option to self-quarantine and failure to do so will attract a jail term.
