Hotpoint Appliances Donates TV Sets for Children with Cancer at KNH

Children suffering from Cancer at the Kenyatta National Hospital can breathe a sigh of relief after Kenya’s premier supplier of indigenous electronics and home appliances, Hotpoint Appliances donated television sets for them.

The TV’s were fitted to the facility’s chemotherapy cubicles in the Children’s Cancer Ward as part of the entertainment as the children undergo the long-ours of chemotherapy.

The exercise is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aimed at supporting various health initiatives in the country.

Hotpoint made the donation to back up a campaign dubbed Love Beyond Self organized by MS Africa Elite, Sylvia Mochabo under Andy Speaks 4 Special Needs in support of kids with cancer.

Speaking during the event, Ms. Mochabo said that she came up with the idea after one of the children battling cancer explained to her their anguish while undergoing chemotherapy.

“We get bored sitting for 8 hours going through chemotherapy… Please get us some entertainment,” the boy said.

She said that the event was a way of extending love and support to children undergoing cancer treatment.

Together with other donors including Lions International, Eden Bridge Capital, and Makataba Mashinani, Hotpoint Appliances made the wish come true and offered to make their space as homely as possible especially for those who stay in for months undergoing treatment

Other items that were donated include books, gaming items, DVD sets, toiletries, and other necessary medical equipment.

The Love Beyond Self campaign was a great opportunity for Hotpoint Appliances to support the health sector by committing to enhance cancer treatment countrywide in alignment with the government’s resolve to investing and pooling more resources towards the decentralization of treatment for cancer and non-communicable diseases.
