The deadly Coronavirus continues to sweep across Italy with bodies piling up with each passing day.

On Monday, the country recorded 602 new deaths, a slight drop from an all-time high of 793 reported on Sunday taking the total number of deaths as of Monday to 6,077.

The total number of infections in Italy is now at 63,928 with health experts saying the situation is prone to get worse since almost all the confirmed cases are in “critical condition”.

Medics in Italy are overwhelmed as hospitals are morgues are full. Cuba has dispatched doctors to Rome to help battle the virus. Russia has also opted to help.

Coronavirus cases have continued to rise steadily. In the United States of America, the cases surged to 35,000 with at least 495 deaths. There have been calls on President Donald Trump to announce a federal lockdown but he has declined.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the world should prepare for the worst which is yet to come. WHO says the virus took 67 days to hit the 100,000-mark, 11 days to hit the 200,000-mark and just 4 days to hit the 300,000-mark.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases stands at 381,739 with the number of confirmed deaths quoted at 16,558. The number of those who have recovered is at 102,429. Experts say the number might hit a million in the next few weeks with more cases coming from Africa.

The rate of infections in Africa is still low but rising steadily. South Africa has recorded the highest number of cases so far, 402 as of Monday. More than half of African countries have reported positive cases of Coronavirus.

Kenya has 16 confirmed cases. There are, however, concerns that the cases might be higher because the tests are not carried out as it should be. People like the Kilifi County Deputy Governor are still jetting in, walking around and infecting people.
