Man City Vs Arsenal Match Pushed To A later Date over Coronavirus Fears

The most awaited match between Man City and Arsenal has been postponed after Arsenal announced that its players are still on quarantine.

Arsenal announced that some of its players were placed under quarantine after they came into contact with Olympiakos boss (who tested positive for coronavirus) in a Europa match against Olympiakos about two weeks ago.

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Greek club Olympiakos, had tested positive for coronavirus and Arsenal confirmed that a number of its key players interacted with him.

Arsenal announced that it will take the precautions and will not be available for the match scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2020 against Man City in order to avoid further spread of the coronavirus if there is any.

“The medical advice we have received puts the risk of them developing Covid-19 at extremely low. However, we are strictly following the government guidelines which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.”

“As a result, the players are unavailable for tonight’s match against Manchester City and the Premier League has decided the game should be postponed.

Arsenal said the players who came into contact with Marikanis will be quarantined for 14 days. The staff members who sat next to the Olympiakos boss will also stay at home to ensure safety.

All the fans who had booked tickets to watch the match Man City Vs Arsenal match will also be refunded.

Arsenal said the 14 day quarantine period will end on Friday, March 14, 2020, thus the club expects its players to be available on the weekend match against Brighton.

The Postponed match between Arsenal and Man city becomes the first sporting event in England to be rescheduled due to coronavirus.

Due to the postponement of the match, league leaders Liverpool will have to wait a little bit longer in order to be crowned as the PL champions. If Man City loses the next two PL matches, Liverpool will have a great chance of winning the title.

In countries like Italy, postponement of matches has now become a norm with some matches being played behind closed doors.

Other football matches likely to be affected with the coronavirus outbreak are Manchester United Vs LASK,Chelsea Vs Bayern Munich, Rangers Vs Bayern Leverkusen.
