There are now more coronavirus cases reported outside china than inside the mainland country where the virus was first reported.

The latest data reveal that cases reported outside china have reached 87,000 while those reported inside the coronavirus epicenter were about 80,000.

The latest data by the World Health Organization and other public health trackers show that there has been a rapid increase in the number of cases in European countries like Italy and Spain and other countries like Iran.

WHO confirmed that the majority of new cases of the deadly virus are being reported outside China.

Italy is the second most affected country after China, with over 25,000 reported cases and 1,800 deaths. The death rate in the country is 7.2 percent.

Iran and Spain have over 14,000 and 7000 confirmed cases respectively. The former reported 724 deaths while the latter reported 292 deaths. Germany, France, and USA have reported over 3,000 cases.

Even though South Korea had reported a higher number of infections than Spain, measures put by the country to fight the virus have helped reduce the number significantly.

South Korea did rapid testing and quarantining in the worst affected areas. Over the weekend it recorded its first two days in a row where recoveries surpassed new infections.

According to data by worldometer.info, over 157 countries have confirmed cases of the Coronavirus with 169,812 infections. The death toll has reached 6,518.

Out of the 169,812 reported cases, 77, 776 have recovered but there are still 85,318 active cases.5,921 infected people are said to be in critical condition.

China’s National Health Commission (NHC) reported that 60 percent of those who died from the virus of ages 60 years and above.75 percent of them had respiratory complications or diabetes.

Of all the cases reported outside China, 71 percent of the victims are male.

CDC now advises against gatherings of more than 50 people as a measure to prevent further spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, countries are locking down major towns, closing borders, schools, churches and even advising employers to allow their employees to work from home as ways of preventing further spread of the virus.
