Passengers Who Use SGR Asked To Arrive Early To Wash Their Hands

The government of Kenya has been encouraging Kenyans to avoid crowded places, work from home or ensure they wash their hands with soap and water, or use sanitizers in an effort to stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Some of the places that Kenyans have been advised to be careful and prevent the spread of Coronavirus are Matatus, the Likoni Ferry and the Standard Gauge Railway.

The China Communication Construction Company (CCCC), working in conjunction with Kenya Railways Corporation, have put in place measures to make sure that all passengers who use the train are safe and not at risk of contracting the deadly Coronavirus.

The two organizations have encouraged all passengers who wish to use the train to arrive early in order for them to comply with the necessary “sanitary procedures.”

“In light of the situation, we advise passengers to arrive at the station early enough to comply with the necessary sanitary procedures,” said Kenya Railways in a statement.

“We encourage all the passengers to observe all the precautions as advised by the Health Ministry to curb the spread of the virus,” it added.

China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) has relentlessly been posting on its Twitter handle on the measures put in place as well as encouraging Kenyans to be cautious within and without the train to ensure that everyone is safe.

To avoid the spread of the virus, Kenyans are being encouraged to:

Wash their hands regularly or use hand sanitizers

Avoid close contact with persons showing signs of the virus.

So far, Kenya has three confirmed cases, three more closely monitored cases and 17 quarantined cases with the government saying everything is in place to ensure that the virus does not spread to the point of affecting the economy. Schools have since been closed and people encouraged to work from their homes.
