Pwani Life Slashes Edible Oil and Soap Prices as Coronavirus Spreads

Pwani Life, the manufacturers of popular cooking oil, Fresh Fri has announced that it will reduce prices of select cooking oils and soap products in the wake of the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Pwani Life has said that it will cut prices up to 5 percent of its Fresh Fri Garlic brand of cooking oil which it says has a carrier of zinc because it has garlic oil and has been fortified with Vitamins A and D – all critical nutrients in boosting human immunity and fighting viral infections.

There has been a sharp demand for essential consumer goods since the announcement by the government that a positive case of the coronavirus had been confirmed on Kenyan soil.

The manufacturer has also announced a 5 percent reduction in the prices of its soap products Diva, Sawa, and Detrex so as to encourage regular washing of hands among Kenyans and curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

According to the company commercial director Rajul Malde, Pwani Life is also planning to avail a total of 150 handwashing kits in public places in major towns including Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Nyeri.

With nerves running high and Kenyans panicking over the coronavirus, the government has urged its citizens to observe personal hygiene by washing hands frequently and using sanitizers to curb the spread of the virus which has so far infected 169,000 people and killed 6,000 worldwide.

The move by Pwani Life to reduce prices of some of its products also comes after the Competition Authority of Kenya issued a stern warning to product manufacturers and retailers against hiking the prices of goods in response to panic buying in supermarkets and other outlets.
