Ruto’s Difficult Address, Uncomfortable Body Language In Kenei’s Murder

It was probably the most difficult address by Deputy President William Ruto since he was voted into office alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The rift in the Jubilee party was evident as William Ruto stood to address Kenei’s mourners.

The deputy president’s voice was heavy and shaky, his fingers seemed lost of where exactly to stay, at some point they were held together and at another, on several occasions, he seemed as if he wished to dip them into his coat’s inner pocket.

Deputy President William Ruto went ahead to explain what he termed as his last encounter with sergeant Kipyegon Kenei and swore to the mourners that the murderer would be brought to justice.

It was difficult to tell whether deputy president William Ruto was angry, sad or otherwise from his facial expression though he readjusted the mic, way too many times than was necessary.

In the whole address, Ruto was uncomfortable which is understandable considering that his Harambee Annex office has been placed in the midst of not only the fake military arms deal but also the Kenei murder.

“It was on Monday, when I got into office after working in my Karen office  I called my Harambee Annex office security team and asked what was the story I was seeing in the media that Echesa had been in the offices,” Ruto told the mourners.

“Kenei confessed that he knew CS Rashid Echesa and that the CS had called him saying he had an appointment and that he was headed to the Annex office and Kenei allowed him,” Ruto told the mourners.

It is in Kenei’s funeral that it emerged that the sergeant was the son of a close ally to Water CS Chelugui whose name is Chesang.

Ruto even revealed that Kenei’s father, Chesang had visited his home (Ruto’s home) with cs Chelugui which reveals a worrying trend of nepotism.
