This Is What It Means When The President’s Number Plate Is Upside Down

BY Juma · March 16, 2020 07:03 am

On Sunday, President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived to address the nation on the status of the Coronavirus in the country.

President Uhuru Kenyatta caught Kenyans’ attention with the number plate on his official car being upside down.

This was the first time in the history of Kenya for a president to drive in a car with a number plate upside down. People thought it was a mistake. No. It was not a mistake.

A President is allowed to drive with a number plate upside down for two reasons:

When the President is driving without an official flag on his car.

When the President is not carrying good news.

On Sunday, President Uhuru Kenyatta was not carrying good news. He announced that Kenya had confirmed two more cases of the deadly Coronavirus leading to a total of three.

The President also announced the closure of all schools; primary, secondary, colleges and universities indefinitely in an effort to minimize on the spread of Coronavirus.

The Head of State, also, called on Kenyans to “work from home” apart from key sectors like health and security. The President also banned all foreigners from entering the country.

In other words, President Uhuru Kenyatta was locking down the economy. That was not good news at all and the number plate had to be upside down.

The Spread Of The Deadly Coronavirus

Coronavirus continues to spread across the world with the number of deaths now being above 5,000 and infections above 140,000.

China is still the most affected country with more deaths and infections. Italy is also receiving a hit from the virus. On Sunday, the country registered the highest number of new deaths in a day of 368 and over 1,000 new infections.

The number of infections in Africa is still low but increasing with each passing day. Kenya now has three confirmed cases.
