Three Coronavirus Patients in Rwanda Travelled From Kenya

Rwanda has announced that it confirmed 17 new cases of Coronavirus of which three of the patients travelled from Kenya.

Rwanda’s Ministry of Health on Tuesday said that the total number of confirmed cases in the country had hit 36 where 16 of the patients travelled from foreign countries.

The patients confirmed positive in Rwanda include; nine travellers from Dubai, three travellers from Kenya, two from the United States, one from Qatar and one from  India. The other contracted the virus from a patient in the country.

Rwanda assured that all the 36 patients are under isolation and are in stable conditions.

“All travellers entered isolation between 17-20 March in designated locations and were tested. All patients are under treatment in stable condition, isolated from other patients. The tracing of all contacts has been conducted for further management,” Rwanda said.

All Rwandan residents were advised to be vigilant and avoid any unnecessary travels out of the country to avoid contracting the virus.

Unnecessary movements across the cities and districts have been cancelled as well and all the nonessential businesses have been closed in the country.

The Rwandese Government also said that travellers into the country will be subjected to mandatory isolation for 14 days at a government facility.

“Any Rwandans or legal residents returning to the country will be subject to0 a mandatory 14-day quarantine at designated locations,”

“The cooperation of Rwandans and residents is greatly appreciated, as are the efforts of those working hard in the health sector who continue to be supported and appropriately protected as they work to protect the health and safety of all of us.”

Rwanda is now the most hit country in the East African region as the numbers doubled from 19 the previous days.

All countries in the East African Region except South Sudan and Burundi have now recorded cases of the covid-19.

In Kenya, 16 patients have been confirmed positive and are under isolation at designated facilities in Nairobi.
