Top 5 Gainers, Losers And Movers At NSE For March 11, 2020

Home Afrika emerged as the top gainer of the day on Tuesday, March 11, 2020, at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) with 7.50 percent at the price of 0.43 shillings per share.

The second top gainer of the day was the East African Cables with 3.83 percent at the price of 1.90 shillings per share followed by Uchumi Supermarket with 3.45 percent at the price of 0.30 shillings per share.

KCB Group and Stanlib Fahari Income – REIT closed the day at fourth and fifth position with 2.36 and 2.04 percent at the price of 47.80 and 8.00 shillings per share respectively.

Stanbic Holdings closed Tuesday in the red as the top loser with 8.78 percent at the price of 106.50 shillings per share followed by Liberty Kenya with 8.51 percent at the price of 6.88 shillings per share.

Unga Group shed off 7.69 percent at the price of 30.00 shillings per share followed by Umeme and Olympia Capital that lost 6.16 and 4.80 percent at the price of 6.40 and 2.38 shillings per share.

Safaricom maintained its position as the top mover of the day with volumes of 21.31 million and a market capitalization of 1.11 trillion. With a market capitalization of 7.17 billion shillings, Kenya Re-Insurance sold 3.21  million shares during the session.

Co-operative Bank sold 2.49 million shares with a market capitalization of 82.73 billion shillings followed by Equity Group and KCB Group with 470,400 and 442,600 shares respectively.

125 Billion Shillings Wiped Off NSE In 24 Hours

On Monday, stocks listed at the NSE lost a whopping 125 billion shillings of their value as foreign investors continued to shy away from blue-chip firms over the increased spread of Coronavirus. This was the single largest loss in a single day in the history of NSE.

On Monday, the market capitalization closed at 2.2 trillion shillings compared to 2.3 trillion shillings on Friday with Safaricom and other tier-I banks leading in the shedding off of value. Foreign investors are afraid of making losses in blue-chip companies if Coronavirus continues to bite.
