Nadine Dorris, the minister of Health and conservative Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.

The UK health minister announced that she isolated herself from the public after she found out that she was infected with the coronavirus.

“I can confirm I have tested positive for coronavirus… and have been self-isolating at home,” Ms.Nadine Dorris said in a post.

“Thanks for so many good wishes. It’s been pretty rubbish but I hope I’m over the worst of it now. More worried about my 84yo mum who is staying with me and began with the cough today. She is being tested tomorrow. Keep safe and keep washing those hands, everyone.”

Nadine Dorris became the first minister in the UK to test positive for the coronavirus as the number of reported cases outside china has reached 1000.

The health officials are now trying to trace back how the Health minister contracted the virus as she had come into contact with hundreds of people including Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In order to take precautions, all the ministers in the UK will have to undergo testing together with anyone (including the health secretary) who have come into contact with MS Dorris.

The total cases confirmed in the UK are 324 with the country saying it will take all the necessary measures to ensure that the spread of the disease is contained in due time.

UK’s public health announced that it would increase the number of tests being carried out from 1,500 to 10,000 to ensure the disease does not spread any further. So far 25,000 tests have been done.

The test results will also be carried faster where the results would come back within or after 24 hours.

“Every hospital across the country, and the healthcare professionals who run them, are now actively planning to respond flexibly to manage new demand.”

Globally, the number of new infections continues to rise with countries putting up measures to protect their citizens from the contagious disease.

Most gatherings that involve a good number of people are being discouraged including business conferences, seminars, sporting events, and even churches.

The total death toll has reached 3,800 with over 100,000 confirmed cases of the infections globally.
