A Litre of Super Petrol Drops By Ksh 18 For The First Time In Ages

Kenyan motorists have every reason to smile after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced new prices of fuel for the next 30 days with super petrol dropping by 18 shillings, the largest drop in many months.

According to EPRA, the price of super petrol will retail 18 shillings less, while that of diesel will sell 4.09 shillings less. Kerosene users are also the most beneficiaries with prices dropping by 18.18 shillings,

“The changes in this month’s prices are as a consequence of the average landed costs of super petrol decreasing by 34.61 percent from 472.52 US Dollars per cubic meter in February 2020 to 309.03 per cubic meter in March 2020,” said EPRA in a statement.

The landed cost for imported diesel dropped by 9.89 percent from 480.21 US dollars per cubic meter to 432.70 US Dollars per cubic meter. The landed cost for kerosene decreased by 37.70 percent from 421.24 US Dollars per cubic meter to 262.44 US Dollars per cubic meter.

With the new prices, a liter of super petrol will be retailing at 92.87 shillings in Nairobi, 90.40 shillings in Mombasa, 92.71 shillings in Nakuru and 93.68 shillings in Eldoret. A liter of diesel will go for 97.56 shillings in Nairobi, 95.09 shillings in Mombasa, 97.53 shillings in Nakuru and 98.50 shillings in Eldoret.

The price of kerosene in Nairobi will be 77.28 shillings. In Mombasa, it will be at 74.82 shillings, while in Nakuru and Eldoret, it will be at 77.32 and 78.29 shillings respectively.
