COVID-19 Updates: 14 More Test Positive As Counties Register 1st Case

Kenya has had 696 samples tested of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and fourteen of those have tested positive for the deadly virus bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 172.

The fourteen who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours include 12 Kenyans and two foreigners with four of the fourteen having traveled from Tanzania and South Africa respectively.

“We will not hesitate to take even bolder measures to ensure a win against the COVID-19 outbreak, “Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said while delivering the latest updates on the fight against the deadly virus.

“All golf clubs must be closed with immediate effect as they are being abused,” CS Mutahi Kagwe has said adding that those exercising in sports must adhere to the directive on ensuring social distancing.

“We will embark on testing our medical staff for the COVID-19 thanks to new re-agents to ensure they are safe to serve Kenyans and fight the spread of the virus,” CS Kagwe has said.

Four of the 14 that have tested positive are those that were in mandatory quarantine and the other 10 were picked by the Ministry of Health surveiance teams across the country.

The fourteen who have tested positive for COVID-19 are from the following Counties:

• Nairobi-7
• Mombasa-1
• Machakos-1
• Kiambu- 1
• Mandera – 2
• Kisii – 2

“Contact tracing has begun earnestly and all those believed to have come into contact with the 172 positive cases are expected to undergo quarantine for 14 days, “Health CS Kagwe has said.

The 172 COVID-19 cases in Kenya include 56 males and 44 women.
