COVID-19 Updates: 216 Confirmed Cases, 41 Recoveries In Kenya

Kenya now has 216 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after eight more people have tested positive out of 694 samples that have been tested in the last 24 hours according to Health CAS Doctor Mercy Mwangangi who has delivered today’s, 14th April 2020, briefs.
The eight that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours include six from Nairobi, one from Siaya and one from Nakuru with five being Kenyans and three being foreigners.
Doctor Mercy Mwangangi has also noted that the Ministry of Health is on the process of preparing for mass testing across the country with selected places currently being decided on depending on the risk levels.
Doctor Mercy Mwangangi has revealed that the testing will be in crowded areas such as Kibera and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) that have already announced cases of COVID-19 amongst employees.
CAS Mwangangi has also announced that one more person has been discharged from hospital bringing the country’s total recoveries to 41 and gladly, no fatality to COVID-19 has been reported today.
CAS Health has revealed that the Ministry of Health has set aside 12,000 testing kits to be deployed in phase one that will cover Nairobi, Mandera, Mombasa and Siaya counties.
Today is the 33rd day of Coronavirus in Kenya that has claimed the lives of nine people with citizens continually being urged to observe measures set to curb the spread of COVID-19 such as washing hands well regularly with running water and soap, keeping a 2-meter distance, wearing masks when in public and staying indoors to avoid crowding.
CAS Mwangangi has revealed that the mass testing will begin at KPA in Mombasa and Kibera in Nairobi which has been observed as high-risk areas.
Mass testing for COVID-19 has already begun in Kenyatta Hospital for all the staff according to CAS Mwangangi.
