Kenya now has 197 confirmed COVID-19 cases by the Ministry of Health and eight out of the total are dead with the death of the eighth patient revealing that Kenyans are indeed largely exposed to the deadly virus.

The 8th dead of Kenya’s COVID-19 cases is a 59-year-old man who died in Siaya County a place known as Ukwala and was buried a few hours after his demise in what would be considered in normal conditions, a bizarre manner but the conditions with COVID-19 are not normal.

The man who is Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to coronavirus had traveled from Mombasa on April 5th, 2020 leaving a fear that coronavirus must have spread from him and to others in the County.

The man, 8th patient to succumb to coronavirus in Kenya, was an employee of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and had traveled with his wife and two daughters from Mombasa to Siaya, a realization that has since led to quarantining of his whole family and a group of other contacts.

“On April 5, he slept in Nairobi. On April 6 he was involved in a non-injury accident at Awasi market and slept in Kisumu,” the report reveals Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to COVID-19.

The next day, Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to coronavirus is said to have proceeded to Ukwala using his brother’s vehicle and remained indoors after the trip which probably leaves people wondering whether the coronavirus symptoms were overwhelming him.

Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to coronavirus according to Police records in Siaya developed a cough on 10th April 2020 and was rushed to Matibabu Foundation Private Hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours after arrival, at around 7 pm.

Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to coronavirus was buried the very same night after Police directed that his body be disinfected, buried immediately and all contacts traced with immediate effect.

The residents of Siaya, Ukwala village woke up to a man who died and was buried before they even knew of his death which was out of the norm in their traditions but needed to be done to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

The contacts of Kenya’s 8th person to succumb to COVID-19 continue to be traced with those in Siaya including his family being sent for mandatory quarantine.

Kenya currently has 197 total confirmed coronavirus cases by the Ministry of Health but this is the second case of a patient dying a few hours after being rushed to hospital raising concern on the extent of spread and questioning the exact number of cases in the country.

The 197 confirmed coronavirus cases are at 197 only because only 7,449 samples have been tested while the country’s population is almost 50 million.

COVID-19 cases have been confirmed to be largely in the capital city, Nairobi, Kiambu, the Coastal line, Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale, Siaya, Makueni, Murang’a, Machakos

Whether or not a COVID-19 case has been confirmed in your county, the Ministry of Health advises that the measures be strictly adhered to and if it is possible people to stay in their homes, as it is challenged in matters resources and currently cannot do countrywide testing.
