Energy CS Mr. Charles Keter has called on Kenyans who are staying on the lower sides of dams such as Masinga and Kindaruma to move or be swept by water.

According to the CS, those staying in Garissa should move with immediate effect or they risk being carried by water in the next two days as the dams are full. There is already a spillage from Masinga Dam.

It is not yet clear whether the residents in the areas will listen to the Cabinet Secretary and move or if they won’t, the plans the government is putting in place to ensure that they move before the fateful day.

The warning from the CS comes barely two days after massive landslides rocked the counties of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot with the total number of confirmed deaths standing at 12.

More than 20 people are still missing after the landslides swept aways tens of houses including a police station. Two police officers have been confirmed dead according to Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
