Day 35 Of COVID-19 In Kenya: 16 New Cases Push Total Number To 262

Kenya now has 262 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after 16 new more cases have been announced by the Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe who has noted with a lot of sadness the failure of Kenyans to adhere to the law and instead are corrupting their way out of locked Counties.
The 16 new positive cases are out of 1115 samples tested within the last 24 hours and include 15 Kenyans and one foreigner with males being twelve and four females according to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
All the sixteen cases have no history of travel and none of them came from any quarantine centers according to the Health Cabinet Secretary who has noted that upon increasing testing capacity, more Kenyans are testing positive which means there is need to be vigilant and observe the safety measures.
Out of the 16 that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours according to Health CS Kagwe, nine are from Nairobi, five from Mombasa and one from Homabay with all of them aging between 8 to 84 years of age.
The one person that is the first case to be reported positive in Homabay County is among a group of people that had traveled out of Nairobi County illegally feigning to have been traveling for burial in Homabay County according to the Health CS.
The first case of COVID-19 in Homabay now will be faced with charges of having defied the government’s orders meant to curb the spread of the virus in the country with CS Kagwe noting that the group that had traveled with the first Homabay patient even had an empty casket onboard faking a burial and authorities were shocked to open the casket and find it empty.
Sadly, Kenya has lost one more COVID-19 patient bring the death toll to twelve.
The Health CS has gladly noted that seven more people have been discharged bringing the number of COVID-19 recoveries to 60 from the previous 53 according to CS Kagwe who has broken down the total number of confirmed cases to their ages as follows:
- Eight ranging from 0 to 14 years of age
- Seventy ranging between fifteen years and twenty-nine years of age
- One hundred and sixty-four ranging between thirty years and fifty-nine years of age
- Twenty above sixty years of age
According to the Health CS, every estate in Nairobi has a case of COVID-19 and this includes the leafy suburbs of Kilimani which has six cases, Karen five cases, with the Health CS saying that those were simply examples and literaly every estate had reported a case.
Worryingly, neighbourhoods are often deemed congested such as Kawangware has reported three cases of COVID-19, Pipeline five cases, Ngara to cases with Utawala reporting four cases, Eastleigh one death that has seen the County government shut the malls and begin a fumigation exercise as the death is of an Imam who is believed to have come into contact with many people.
Buruburu, Tassia and literally all estates in Nairobi have a case of COVID-19 and residents are urged to be extra careful and observe the measures set by the government saying, “this is not the time for cat and mouse and this only goes to show that those that will survive this virus are the most disciplined.”
