Multichoice Kenya has announced a payment discount of 75% to its commercial clients for the next three months as major sporting activities remain suspended around the world due to Covid-19.

The three-month discount is set to benefit hotels, pubs, restaurants and football joints, all which have been affected by the cancellation of major sporting events worldwide as Covid-19 continues to hit.

With the discount, customers who had already paid their subscription for the month of April will not be billed for the month of May and June.

MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director Nancy Matimu said as the situation concerning Covid-19 continues, the company is committed to giving its customers the best.

“As the situation continues to evolve, we are committed to ensuring that our commercial clients continue to receive our services as well as access to the best sports, entertainment and news programming currently available,” she said.

To compensate premium viewers for the content lost due to the cancellation of sporting activities, the company has introduced new channels such as CNN International (401), TV Record News (671) and ReLife Sports (205).

“As live sport is massively impacted, we have acquired extra sport documentaries around the world for our viewers at no extra cost,” she said.

Covid-19 led to the massive cancellation of sporting activities around the world in an effort to stop the spread of the deadly virus. In Kenya, businesses such as bars and clubs were shut down by the government. Most hotels have also closed down as a result and fired their employees.

MultiChoice says it has also revised the prices of DStv and GOtv to reflect the 2 percent drop in Value Added Tax (VAT) as announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta from 16 percent to 14 percent.

Both DStv and GOtv will be upgrading all customers to higher bouquets at no extra cost to ensure that they “get more content for less”.
