Before the first Covid-19 case was reported in  Kenya, Nairobi was named among the most vulnerable places and likely to have victims.

The predictions are now clear as Nairobi County leads with the highest number of Covid-19 cases. The number is currently at 193 which is 73 percent of the total cases.

The Ministry of Health also revealed that almost every estate in the capital has reported at least one Covid-19 case which calls for more vigilance among Nairobi residents.

In his public address on Saturday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said Kilimani area leads with six cases. Kasarani is second with five, Karen four, South C four, Utawala four, Kawangware three, with  Tassia, Kitisuru, Parklands, Buru Buru and Kibra having two cases each.

“Almost every other city estate has reported at least one case- Donholm, Eastleigh, Hurlingham, Lavington, Runda, Ngara, Madaraka, Kasarani- and many more. I want to plead with all of us to take the measures we have announced more seriously.”

“It is followed by Mombasa, Kilifi, and Mandera. Through the Council of Governors, we are working with all other counties to ensure that, together with us, they can detect, isolate and treat cases that may be reported within their jurisdictions.” The CS said.

Other counties that have reported Covid-19 cases include; Homabay one, Kajiado two, Kakamega one, Kitui two, Nakuru two, Siaya two, Uasin Gishu one and Kwale one.

So far, Kenya has reported a total of 262 cases where 12 have succumbed to the virus while 60 have recovered.

12 new cases were reported today on the 18th of April 2020 with none of them having a history of traveling to foreign countries.

Kenyans have been urged to be more vigilant and continue adhering to the set-out rules to contain the spread of the virus.
