Jack Ma, WHO Aid Africa As COVID-19 Spreads To Communities In Kenya

COVID-19 virus is ‘fast slithering’ into Kenya’s Counties as the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe put it saying that a high-level team from the Ministry of Health had been dispatched to Siaya County on a rather urgent mission.

“Yesterday, we put the counties on notice that the COVID-19 virus is fast slithering into their territories. Early today, I dispatched a high-level team from the Ministry to Siaya County on an urgent mission,” the Health CS said while updating the World on Kenya’s COVID 19 outbreak.

CS Mutahi Kagwe also revealed that the team on the urgent mission to Siaya County is being led by the Acting Director-General for Health Doctor Patrick Amoth who including other duties would inspect the quarantine and isolation centres in Siaya County.

It is in Siaya County that the 8th patient in Kenya died and was buried at night leading to heavy criticism on the County government with Kenyans online questioning whether the patient had indeed died of COVID-19 or there was more than met the eye.

“The team which is led by Acting Director-General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, is currently examining the status of the quarantine and isolation facilities in Siaya County.” the Health CS said announced.

The burying of the Siaya COVID-19 at night caused conflict among the County residents and the authorities as fear loomed in that the Siaya patient could have passed the deadly virus to many more before his death which informs the need for the governments scheduled mass testing.

“They are also engaging with the County leadership and local residents to ensure that we are moving in one accord, against this COVID-19. In addition, the team is delivering supplies of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE’s) for the medical staff and health care workers in the region,” CS Kagwe said.

For the second time since the COVID-19 outbreak occurred in Kenya, billionaire Jack Ma has rendered a helping hand by sending into the Country a consignment with medical equipment worth billions to help save lives and combat the deadly virus.

“I am delighted to announce that today, with a lot of gratitude, we have received a consignment of 18,900 swabs and viral transport medium, 18,912 extraction kits, 3,790 medical disposable protective clothing, ventilation machines, thermometer guns and medical gloves from Jack Ma,” the health CS announced.

CS Kagwe also revealed that Kenya had also received more help from China, Germany and France thanks to the World Health Organization says that the Country’s ability to fight the spread of COVID-19 and treat those that test positive to minimize on the number of fatalities.

“This afternoon we have also received another consignment of surgical masks, gloves, face shields, gowns from China, Germany, and France, through the World Health Organization (WHO). A lot more PPE’s will be availed and distributed before the end of the week,” CS Kagwe said.
