Tanzania has a long history of controversial leaders. There was a leader called Kinjeketile Ngwale who convinced Tanzanians that the sacred water he gave them would melt the bullets of the Germans.

The bullets from the Germans rained on them like water from a flooded river down a steep hill. They were killed like flies. Many years down the line, Kinjeketile Ngwale seems to be awake through John Pombe Magufuli.

As the deadly Covid-19 continues to sweep across the world, President John Pombe Magufuli has remained adamant, refusing to close down churches, borders, and other social joints as people continue to mingle freely.

At one time, John Pombe Magufuli said that the “Covid-19 cannot survive in the body of Jesus Christ” and, therefore, ordered the churches to remain open. But the Bible says “My people perish for lack of wisdom.”

Will President John Pombe Magufuli finally see sense and announce measures including announcing a curfew or partial lockdown as it is happening in Kenya?

Uganda has 55 confirmed cases, 38 recoveries with only 17 being active cases. Uganda has been among the few African countries that moved to announce a total lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus.

Ethiopia, with at least 100 million people has so far 111 confirmed cases of Covid-19. 16 people have recovered with 3 confirmed deaths. Ethiopia has since announced a state of emergency to combat the spread of the virus.
