UK PM Boris Johnson Moved Into ICU Over Covid-19

The United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson was moved into an intensive care unit (ICU) after his Covid-19 symptoms worsened.

Boris Johnson was diagnosed with the deadly Coronavirus and placed himself under quarantine for 14 days. However, “he experienced persistent symptoms” leading to him being admitted on Sunday at St. Thomas Hospital, in London.

News of him being admitted to the ICU spread like a bushfire across Europe and the world since earlier communication had indicated that he had been taken to hospital for “normal check-up.”

“Over the course of Monday afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has moved to the intensive care unit,” A No 10 statement said.

The Prime Minister has asked his Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputize him where necessary. The fact that Johnson has been moved into ICU, according to BBC, it shows how seriously ill the PM is.

The PM becomes the second high-ranking government official to suffer from Covid-19 after Prince Charles who has since recovered.

Global Statistics

As of Tuesday morning, the total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus stood at 1,347,235 while the number of confirmed deaths stood at 74,767.

A total of 284,234 people around the world have recovered from the virus. The United Kingdom now has 51,608 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 5,373 deaths, 135 recoveries and 1,559 in critical condition.

The virus has hit hard the European world and experts warn of many months of death and infections if proper measures will not be put in place to arrest the situation.

Kenya

As of Monday afternoon, Kenya had reported a total of 158 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 6 deaths and 4 recoveries with the number projected to rise on a daily basis as mass testing of Kenyans continue.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has since announced a string measures including restricting movement in four counties including Nairobi and Mombasa.
