Yoweri Museveni Warns Landlords Against Evicting Tenants

As Kenyans continue to push President Uhuru Kenyatta through hashtags (despite the fact that the Son of Jomo is no longer on Twitter), calling on him to suspend the payment of rent, his peers are doing something different.

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has warned landlords against evicting tenants who are unable to pay rent due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The strongman says the landlords in Uganda have to know that everybody is facing the impact of Covid-19 and should be humane while dealing with their tenants since the majority of them might be going through financial difficulties.

“To the landlords trying to evict people because of rent, this is not allowed. We are all in the Covid-19 crisis. The world is not ending today. You can always demand your money later when this is all over,” said Mr. Museveni through his Twitter handle.

The announcement by Museveni has been welcomed by thousands of Ugandans who are going through some financial turmoil after companies laid them off due to Covid-19 and are unable to pay their rent.

Museveni has also dismissed calls by the Ministry of Education for Ugandans to have their exams online. By the way, the Ministry of Education is headed by Janet Museveni, the wife of Yoweri Museveni. I hope you know who is Yoweri Museveni.

“Some people were putting pressure that they want an exemption to organize exams online. This is not understanding situations. People should stop speaking the language of normalcy in a time of abnormalcy. There is time for everything, this is not the time for exams,” said Museveni.

At the same time, Yoweri Museveni has banned jogging. He says if people have to jog, let them do it in their living rooms. He has promised to show them how it is done.

“I saw a video of so many people on the Southern Bypass, running around, saying they are exercising. This should stop. If you must exercise, you can do it indoors. I will show you how it is done tomorrow, I will do a video for you,” he said.
